Discussion n. 3 *SON OF ITALY*

The most memorable character in this book, aside from Pascal himself, is the Vampire.

Why is she such a formidable presence?  What was your initial take when she first appeared, and what kind of lingering sensation did she leave in you after you finished the book?

What kind of thoughts did her condition and fate wake up in you?

Is Pascal really like her once he arrives in the U.S.?

  1. When the Vampire first appeared I felt bad for the character cause perhaps she was just a normal person who was dealt a bad hand and people just found her to be odd and treated her so maliciously. The way her character left off gave me a really sad impression cause she died after being forced out of town and beaten. In a way Pascal can be compared to the Vampire cause he too is treated differently in a country where no one really understand who he is or judges him for who is but mostly based off of a stereotype of who people believe him to be cause he is Italian.
